A Brief Look
Our History
Portland Place School was established in 1996 under the headship of Mr. Richard Walker. Initially operating from the iconic 58 Portland Place, the school quickly expanded over ten years to include buildings at 56 Portland Place, Hartford House, and Great Portland Street, affectionately known as 'GPS'.

In July 2010, after fourteen years as Headmaster, Richard Walker stepped down and was succeeded by Mr. Tim Cook. Under Mr. Cook's leadership, PPS continued to thrive, maintaining the high enrollment numbers first established by Mr. Walker. The school saw further leadership under two more Headmasters: Mr. David Hyman and Mr. David Bradbury. Mr. Bradbury, serving as the second longest-tenured Headmaster for six and a half years, added a new dimension to the school with the introduction of hybrid classroom settings.

Whether you were a student, staff member or parent at Portland Place in 1996 or 2024, the school has always been known for its soul, purpose, and community. The Portland Place School Alumni Association aims to preserve these key values and allow the spirit of Portland Place to thrive in new ways.
